Betsy Rosa Owens was a young Indigenous girl from Pauingassi First Nation in Manitoba who disappeared in October 1988. Investigators with the Manitoba RCMP Historical Case Unit now believe she was taken from a community dance against her will and murdered by someone from within the small community. Her body has never been found, and decades later her case remains an active homicide investigation, with family and leaders still pleading for information.
